Meet Stephen Vigil
Stephen is the owner of Focus Point Accounting. He holds a Bachelor's in Financial Management from New Mexico State University, is a Certified Internal Auditor, and maintains QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification.
The CIA credential shapes how Stephen approaches client work. Internal auditors are trained to look beyond whether numbers balance. They examine whether financial processes actually function, where money tends to leak, and whether controls exist to catch problems early. That perspective carries over into bookkeeping. Your books get reviewed with the same scrutiny an auditor would apply.
Stephen has over 20 years of accounting experience, with extensive work in small businesses, real estate investment, and transportation. He understands the financial challenges these industries face and builds systems that address them.
He has also taught QuickBooks courses and provided hands-on financial guidance to entrepreneurs through WESST, Santa Fe's small business development organization. That experience reinforced something he already knew. Business owners need clear explanations, not accounting jargon.
